10 Best Pull Out Trash Cans for the Kitchen
1) Rev A Shelf RV-18KD-18C Double Pull-Out Trash Cans
If you've read our pull-out organizer review, then you know that Rev-A-Shelf has dominated the pull-out cabinet industry. With reviews that consistently beat out their competition, Rev-A-Shelf should by and large be your first point of interest.
With over 2900 Amazon reviews this particular model has sustained an astounding 4.8 / 5 star review (as of 10/27/2020).
Constructed with chrome-plated heavy gauge wire, this pull out cabinet has an impressive 100 lb. rating (fully extended) which should easily take care of any typical household disposal needs.
With a simple 4 screw design, the vast majority of buyers felt the installation was a breeze. An electrical drill, phillip's bit, and a tape measure are all you need to secure the assembly.
Customers repeatedly spoke on the easy installation, smooth ball-bearing function, and the sturdy feel of this model.
The kit includes the pull-out assembly and two 35 quart containers. Lids (affiliate link) can be bought separately if desired. There are also additional brackets sold which allow you to secure the assembly to your cabinet door.
If your curious about the installation process, Amazon has the instruction manual available here.
Dimensions: 14.38 X 22 x 19.25 inches (Width x Depth x Height)
5 / 5 Stars
2) Rev-A-Shelf 53WC-1835SCDM-217 Double 35 Quart Soft-Close Pull-Out Trash Cans
The Rev-A-Shelf soft-close assembly sells for approximately double that of the pull-out trash can above, but the soft-close feature is pretty much a no-brainer for a lot of us. This unit also includes the mounting hardware to secure the assembly to your cabinet door (usually bought separately).
If you aren't familiar with the soft-close function, than you're probably very familiar with the absence of soft-close. Soft close catches the cabinet (no matter how assertively you close it) and forces it to retract its last few inches softly.
While this may seem like an unnecessary luxury, door slamming will inevitably diminish the longevity of your pull-out assembly. A soft-close function completely alleviates this issue and allows you to retract the assembly without worrying about damaging your cabinets
With over 650 Amazon reviews, this model has sustained a 4.8 / 5 star rating (as of 10/27/2020). Customers continually spoke on the saved space in the kitchen, the awesome soft-close feature and the smooth glide functionality.
Fully extended, it has a max capacity of 90 Lbs and it comes with two 35-quart waste containers with mounting hardware. Lids are sold separately.
Dimensions: 14.37 x 22.25 x 19 inches (Width x Depth x Height)
Minimum Cabinet Opening: 15 Inches
5 / 5 Stars
3) Rev-A-Shelf 4WCBM-18DM-2 Double-35 Quart w/ Soft-Open and Soft-Close Functions
There are 3 major differences between this model and previously discussed pull-out trash cans.
1) This offers both a soft-open and soft-close function. This works based off a piston design which helps diminish the force of opening and closing swiftly.
2) It can handle a whopping 150 lbs fully extended which is 50 lbs higher than the highest previous weight capacity.
3) It has a slightly different look with a wood box design to hold the trash bins. This both acts as extra support while providing a sleeker look for wood cabinets.
With over 170 Amazon reviews, this model has sustained a 4.7 / 5 star rating (as of 10/27/2020). Customers consistently spoke about the ease of installation, the great customer service and the high quality materials used.
Installation entails drilling 5 screws which makes this an approachable project for anyone with a little handyman experience.
The full assembly comes with two silver 35 quart containers, wood frame, mounting hardware and cabinet door mounting kit.
Dimensions: 14.25 x 21.75 x 19.25 inches (Width x Depth x Height)
4.5 / 5 Stars
4) Simplehuman 35 Liter Dual Compartment Pull-Out Recycling Bin and Trash Can
SimpleHuman is one of the few companies that can hold its ground in the face of the Rev-A-Shelf company. The upside of SimpleHuman products is that they usually sell for a slightly lower price.
This two compartment trash assembly is perfect for those with small households who are trying to create some space in the kitchen. Having your recycling and trash in the same cabinet is a huge plus for those who can pull it off (in other words, those with smaller trash capacity needs).
Customers repeatedly spoke on the sturdy, high quality material used and the ease of installation. Plus, if anything goes wrong, SimpleHuman offers a 5 year warranty which should help ease the nerves.
With over 4000 Amazon reviews, this model has sustained a 4.7 / 5 star review. The main complaint people had were from those who bought the accompanying trash bags.
The trash bags are apparently the wrong size and it's recommended you buy your own after you see the size of the cans first-hand.
Dimensions: 10 x 18.3 x 19.6 inches
4.5 / 5 Stars
5) Rok Kitchen 21" Wide Double Pull-Out Trash Cans
The Rok Kitchen pull-out trash can reviews are still very much in their infancy. However, they offer a unique 21" wide design that allows you to better use larger cabinet space.
As you can see from the image below, the trash cans are lined up side-to-side instead of the usual front-to-back. This becomes increasingly useful for those with wider cabinets.
This model offers a soft-close design and has a heavy duty construction that makes it an attractive piece for bigger households. It's also equipped with non-deformable plastic waste containers that increase its longevity.
With just 6 ratings on Amazon, this model received a 4.8 star review (as of 10/27/2020). This will even out over time with the inevitable critics, but for now, we're inclined to believe this company makes quality products.
Dimensions: Depth 19-5/8", Width 21", Height 19-1/2"
4 / 5 Stars
6) Rev-A-Shelf 4WCTM-18DM2 35 Quart Pull-Out Double Waste Trash (Top-Supported)
There really isn't a pull-out trash variation Rev-A-Shelf hasn't thought of. The main difference between this model and prior ones is that it's side-supported instead of bottom supported.
In other words...
The slider grooves are installed on the right and left walls of the cabinet instead of the bottom. This offers better support when fully extended.
The heavy duty brackets and side support allow this model to carry up to 150 Lbs. This is ideal for those who dislike the bulky nature of the bottom-supported models.
There is one major downfall to this model.
If you don't have a 15" cabinet opening with a 1.5" face frame, some people had serious issues trying to install it. If the cabinet is too wide, spacers are needed to force the guide and trash mechanism to line up. Make sure your cabinet is the right size before purchasing.
After over 490 Amazon reviews, this model has sustained a 4.7 / 5 star rating (as of 10/28/2020). People were generally very happy with the smooth glide, sturdy feel, and selling price of this model.
Dimensions: 15 x 22.25 x 17.875 inches (Width x Depth x Height)
4.5 / 5 Stars
7) Rev-A-Shelf RV-12KD-18C S Single 35-Quart Pull Out Trash Can
If you're looking for a simple single trash can design, this Rev-A-Shelf may be the perfect fit. The 10.6" width frame means that it can fit in a much tighter space.
Equipped with heavy gauge, chrome plated wire, this model has a weight capacity of 100 Lbs fully extended. Most of us can agree it would be near impossible to put 100 Lbs of trash in this one bin (unless you're filling it with bricks).
A simple 4-screw design allows for a very quick installation. If you're interested in mounting the assembly to the cabinet door for easy access, there is a kit (affiliate link) for that as well.
Assembly comes with a 35 quart black waste bin, chrome frame and rail mounting hardware.
With over 1000 Amazon reviews, this model has sustained a 4.7 / 5 star rating (as of 10/28/2020). Customers were most impressed by the easy glide functionality, sturdy design, and the ease of installation.
Dimensions: 10.6 x 22 x 19.25 inches (Width x Depth x Height)
Minimum Cabinet Opening: 14.5"
5 / 5 Stars
8) Rev-A-Shelf 4WCSC-1535DM-12 35-Quart Single Pull-Out Trash Can
This is the single trash can variation of the double bin model above. Instead of having two stalls for two bins, it has one bin stall with a trash bag holder behind it.
This is a heavier duty option compared to the single bin Rev-A-Shelf model above. This means 120 Lb weight capacity instead of the usual 100 Lbs. We can't really imagine anyone sticking 120 Lbs worth of garbage in one bin, but who are we to judge.
The only downside to this model is the high price tag. While it does offer a higher weight capacity and cool, sleek look, it also sells for almost triple that of any other single bin pull-out models available.
A high price to pay, but maybe worth it considering the unparalleled quality Rev-A-Shelf offers. We'll let you be the judge.
After 38 Amazon reviews, this model has sustained a 4.8 / 5 star rating (as of 10/28/2020). Customers repeatedly spoke on the ease of installation, the soft-close function, and the smooth operation.
Dimensions: 12 x 21.75 x 19.5 inches (Width x Depth x Height)
Minimum Cabinet Opening: 12"
4 / 5 Stars
9) SUPER DEAL Double 35 Quart Pullout Trash Cans
A common complaint of the higher-end pull out trash cans were how expensive they were. This is by far the cheapest model available.
With a slightly lower rating than its competitors, here's where this model lacks...
The hardware is cheaper, the bins are cheaper and the customer service isn't as good. Overall the material is just cheaper, so you're going to get cheaper results.
With that being said, this model has sustained a 4.5 / 5 star rating with over 150 Amazon reviews (as of 10/28/2020). So while it is cheaper, people were generally happy with the quality of the product and the lower price.
Dimensions: 21.6”-43.5”Length x 14”Width x 18.5”Height
Waste Bin Dimensions: 14”Length x 10.6”Width x 17.5”Height

10) Rev-A-Shelf RV-18PB-2 S Double 35-Quart Sliding White Pull-Out Trash Cans
This is a mirrored image of the Rev-A-Shelf double bin model at the top of our list. It's offers a white exterior if that happens to be the color that meshes best with your kitchen.
It's the same heavy gauge wire used as well, with the addition of a white paint overlay. This ensures that you're getting the same design as the highly rated Rev-A-Shelf model above.
With over 150 Amazon reviews, this model has sustained a 4.7 / 5 star rating. Customers repeatedly spoke on the good price, ease of installation, and the smooth glide functionality.
The only reason this received a 4.5 instead of a 5 star rating from us (like the identical model above) is because this unit has a lower review count. More time on the market is needed to ensure this lives up to the Rev-A-Shelf name.
Dimensions: 14.38 x 22 x 19.25 inches (Width x Depth x Height)
Minimum Cabinet Opening: 14.5"

Before You Buy
The most common complaint from buyers was that the pull-trash assembly didn't fit their space. A tape measure is your best friend!
Make sure to measure the width, depth, and height of your cabinet to ensure the assembly will fit properly. We've placed the dimensions under each reviewed model to make this as simple as possible.
It's important to have a little clearance everywhere. If the assembly is 15" wide, it's not going to fit in a 15" opening. Having an inch or two on each side ensures the assembly will fit comfortably. The only exception to this rule is if the pull-out assembly is side-supported (guides are on the sides of trash bins, not the bottom). If side-supported the width must be exact for the guides and trash assembly to line up properly. That is, unless you have spacers.
1 or 2 bins?
We understand everyone has different needs. That's why we've included models of all sizes. There are models above that include 1 bin and minimal space consumption, 2 bins with minimal space consumption, and 2 bins with a lot of space consumption (large cabinet areas).
Consider the amount of trash you'd like to store here, and how much space you have available.
Bottom or Side-Supported?
Think of support as where the guides are placed. Bottom-supported models have guides on the bottom, and side supported ones have guides on the sides. We found that side supported models generally have a larger weight capacity, but require exact measurements to work properly.
Bottom supported models have a lower weight capacity (usually 100 Lbs which is still a lot of trash weight), but are more forgiving with varying sized cabinets.
Mount to the Cabinet Door?
Mounting the pull out trash assembly to your cabinet door has its ups and downs.
Pros: Allows you to simply pull the cabinet out to access your trash (as opposed to opening your cabinet, then pulling the trash out.
Cons: Requires you to purchase separate brackets (sometimes), and requires a little more installation time.
You'll find that most of the models available require nothing more than a simple electric drill with an accompanying phillip's bit. A tape measure is also highly recommended to ensure a straight functioning design.
Always double check in the product description to make sure you have everything you need. Complicated cabinet designs can also force a more labor-intensive installation. If that be the case, email a picture of your cabinets to the manufacturer. You can do this through the Amazon portal or directly on the sellers website.
Expensive or Cheap?
I know, it's tempting to go for the cheaper product. Just keep in mind that it's a roll of the dice when you deal with some of these companies. Rev-A-Shelf may sell their products for a higher price, but they offer higher quality equipment with better customer service (usually).
With that being said, the large majority of people who bought the cheaper models were happy with the product. The most common complaints with the lower-end manufacturers were damaged trash bins, cheaper materials, and inferior customer service.
The price difference isn't too vast. Just make sure you do the proper research before committing.
Just another strategic way to make space in the kitchen, pull-out trash cans are essential in most households. We hope this review has started you on the path to finding something you love.
